Job summary

DCPS is seeking a Construction Foreman to lead field operations on active job sites, supervise crews and subcontractors, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and per project plans. You will interpret blueprints, coordinate with project managers and inspectors, enforce safety standards, and mentor team members while maintaining quality and efficiency on site.

This role requires strong leadership, a focus on safety, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders to keep projects

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven leadership or foreman experience in construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise construction crews and subcontractors on active job sites.
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to ensure accurate execution of work.
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor crew productivity.
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, vendors, and suppliers to maintain project schedules.
  • Monitor materials, tools, and equipment and coordinate ordering as needed.
  • Train and mentor crew members while promoting accountability and teamwork.
  • Ensure quality control and proactively address field issues or delays.
  • Maintain jobsite organization, cleanliness, and overall operational efficiency.

Position Summary

The Construction Foreman is responsible for leading and coordinating daily field operations on construction projects to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in alignment with project specifications and company standards. This role provides direct supervision of crews and subcontractors while maintaining a strong focus on safety, productivity, and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise construction crews and subcontractors on active job sites
  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project plans to ensure accurate execution of work
  • Plan daily work activities, assign tasks, and monitor crew productivity
  • Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, vendors, and suppliers to maintain project schedules
  • Monitor materials, tools, and equipment and coordinate ordering as needed

  • Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safety procedures

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in commercial construction environments
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 5-6 years of experience on commercial construction
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and active construction sites
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and precipitation
Work Environment

This role is performed primarily on active construction job sites with exposure to weather, noise, dust, and heavy equipment. Work hours may include extended shifts, weekends, and varying schedules depending on project timelines.

Compensation
  • $75,000 – $90,000 per year, based on experience, qualifications, and market conditions
