Job summary

Evergreen Construction Company in Chicago, IL seeks a Construction Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting, cash flow planning and project accounting. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Senior Controller and requires a strong foundation in GAAP and internal controls.

Key duties include month-end close, preparation of GAAP financial statements for owners and outside parties, WIP/CIP management, budgeting and KPI tracking, A/P and A/R oversight, and audit support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the construction industry or with a construction focus.
  • CPA or CCIFP designation preferred but not required; equivalent construction accounting experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Month-end close, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare GAAP-based monthly/quarterly financial statements for owners and outside parties.
  • Manage WIP/CIP reporting and oversee draw processes and subcontractor lien waivers.
  • Collaborate on budgets, forecasting, and KPI tracking with the VP of Construction and finance team.
  • Oversee A/P & A/R workflows, vendor contracts, and invoice processing.
  • Support audits and special projects as directed by Senior Controller, CFO, and VP of Construction.
