Karber Corporation in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Junior Assistant Controller to join the leadership team and support the financial operations of a growing HVAC and plumbing contractor. You will work with the Controller, executives, project managers, and operations to ensure accurate reporting, strong controls, and efficient accounting processes.

This role offers daily accounting duties, collaboration with multiple teams, and opportunities to advance within a stable, expanding company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 2+ years of experience in construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or a related industry.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience preparing financial statements and account reconciliations.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
• Assist and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Assist with construction job cost accounting and project profitability analysis.
• Prepare and monitor Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting.
• Support annual budgeting and planning processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Assist with audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to review project costs, billing, and change orders.
• Analyze financial trends and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Develop and improve accounting procedures and reporting processes.
• Mentor accounting and payroll staff as assigned.
