Job summary

Procon Consulting is seeking a Construction Field Manager for Federal Sector projects in Chicago. This on-site role requires 3–5 years of on-site management, overseeing renovations and MEP upgrades, and coordinating with architects, engineers, and government stakeholders.

The position demands a flexible schedule, night work, and compliance with safety and codes. Ideal candidates will manage budgets, schedules, submittals, and client communications in occupied buildings and urban settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Planning, or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of on-site construction management experience with renovations, MEP/HVAC upgrades, fit-outs, and window or lighting replacement projects.
• Experience working in occupied, operational buildings and complex environments such as public agencies, hospitals, universities, or government facilities.
• Strong field experience, including urban mid-rise buildings and exterior cladding work preferred.
• Proven ability to manage client communication, project logistics, budgets, schedules, and change proposals.
• Proficient in construction management software including Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Kahua, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to review design documents, construction submittals, cost estimates, and quality assurance processes.
• Flexible schedule with ability to support a mixture of evening and daytime work (full-time on-site).

Responsibilities

• Work in a collaborative team environment under the Senior Project Manager leading construction field management and owner's representative services across renovation and MEP upgrade projects.
• Manage on-site construction activities including, reporting, documenting construction activities, commissioning, and quality assurance.
• Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Review project schedules, budgets, construction documents, and contractor submittals for compliance and accuracy.
• Monitor field operations for adherence to drawings, safety standards, security requirements, and building codes.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation including meeting minutes, field reports, and status updates.
• Track project progress, identify issues, and communicate solutions effectively to project teams and clients.
• Support cost management efforts including estimating, cost verification, and change order negotiations.
