Zurich is seeking an experienced Construction Excess Casualty Wrap Underwriter (Senior or AVP).

We are looking for talented professionals, with flexibility in location within the Midwest or Western regions—such as Chicago, Schaumburg, Overland Park, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or any other city with a Zurich office. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to work both remotely and in the office, with a focus on marketplace visibility and relationship-building with agents and brokers.

As a Construction Excess Casualty Wrap Underwriter, you will have the opportunity to develop your career within a dynamic team. Your responsibilities include underwriting new and renewal business, utilizing Zurich's Underwriting Framework within delegated authority, and focusing on highly complex accounts. Developing strong market relationships and a client-focused approach are essential, especially with experience in construction wrap excess casualty preferred.

This position is filled at either the Senior Underwriter or AVP level. The appropriate level will be determined based on the applicant's experience and skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Demonstrate expertise in underwriting National Account business.
• Assess opportunities with key distributors to identify growth potential.
• Contribute to proposal development and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters.
• Qualify accounts that align with organizational appetite and business opportunities.
• Engage with agents, brokers, and clients through planned, purpose-driven calls and visits.
• Negotiate terms and close deals effectively.
• Cross-sell other lines of business to enhance product density.
• Participate in sales team meetings related to brokers and territory management.
• Manage a pipeline of opportunities 90-120 days prior to effective date.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client networks within targeted industries.

Qualifications:

For Senior Level:

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 10+ years in claims/support roles.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience managing time-sensitive quotes.

For AVP Level:

• High School Diploma or equivalent plus 7+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 14+ years in claims/support roles.
• Qualified through Zurich-approved apprenticeship or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong team collaboration skills and experience with umbrella underwriting preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPCU designation.
• Advanced knowledge of National Account Excess Casualty lines.
• Strong broker and customer relationships, with excellent relationship-building skills.
• Results-oriented mindset.

Zurich offers competitive compensation, including base salary, short-term incentives, and benefits, with ranges depending on experience and location. The total salary range for this role is $120,000 to $222,000, with specific ranges for Senior ($120,000–$170,000) and AVP ($172,000–$222,000) levels.
