American Building Group LLC in Portland, Maine seeks an experienced Construction Estimator to handle budgets, bids, and project plans from framing to finishes. You will work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and field staff on schedules, codes compliance, and cost control for diverse remodeling and renovation projects.

The role requires strong math, plan-reading and communication skills, with a focus on accuracy, multi-project management, and adherence to latest building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree preferred but not necessary; relevant experience considered.
• Construction certificate preferred.
• 3–5 years of related estimator experience preferred; practical experience accepted.

Responsibilities

• Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans.
• Develops bids for construction projects; analyzes costs.
• Works with architects, engineers and other professionals.
• Schedules meetings with clients, site managers and staff.
• Navigates and understands building codes; ensures compliance.
• Processes paperwork and travels to sites as required.
• Monitors construction processes and safety improvements.
• Resolves cost differences by analyzing data and sources.
• Aims to obtain new business and expand client base.

We are located in the Greater Portland Maine area and are looking for an estimator for all aspects of construction, frame to finish, remodels, and renovations. The position is full-time, with year-round work.

Job Responsibilities

• Writes up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans
• Develops bids for construction projects
• Works closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals
• Schedules meetings with clients, site managers, and staff
• Navigates and understands building codes
• Processes paperwork and travels to building sites as required
• Monitors construction processes
• Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction
• Resolves cost differences by analyzing and collecting info
• Works towards obtaining new business

Work Hours and Benefits

Construction Estimator Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, architecture, or a similar field is preferred but not necessary
• Certificate in general construction is preferred
• 3-5 years of related experience is preferred; possible exceptions include recent college education, or practical experience
• Proficiency in Excel, Buildertrend software preferred
