Position Summary

APD Construction, LLC, a leading General Contractor, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator will oversee the entire preconstruction and estimating process for new construction and renovation projects in the commercial, private, and government sectors. Responsibilities include preparing accurate budgets, detailed estimates, comprehensive pre-bid packages, and effective communication with all project stakeholders. The role also involves contract negotiation with subcontractors to ensure favorable terms aligned with project goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the estimating team through all phases of the estimation process, ensuring timely and accurate project estimates.
  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and bid manuals to determine scope of work and documentation requirements.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates for new construction and renovation projects based on various bidding methods.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities by analyzing bid documents and communicate findings to management.
  • Organize and lead the bid/project team, providing guidance on construction methods and scheduling.
  • Contribute to technical proposal preparation to meet client expectations.
  • Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop labor, material, and production cost estimates, reviewing with the estimating team.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Lead negotiations with subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews.
  • Review plans and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor and compare actual costs against estimates, maintaining detailed cost records.
  • Manage subcontractor database and prequalification processes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in preconstruction/estimating, especially in commercial projects for private and government sectors.
  • Deep understanding of civil/site construction, structural systems, interior and exterior finishes, and mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD 3D, and takeoff software; experience with bid management tools preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel to job sites; Spanish language skills preferred.
