Job summary

Ironmark Building Co. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. You will calculate costs for wood frame and commercial projects, review drawings, and coordinate bids to deliver competitive proposals.

You will work closely with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring bid accuracy, deadlines, and clear communication. A degree or certification in Estimating/CM/Architecture is preferred, with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of estimating experience on commercial construction projects (public and private).
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specs for scope and schedule.
• Strong communication with subcontractors and suppliers; able to meet bid deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Calculate accurate labor, equipment, and material costs for wood frame and other commercial projects.
• Review drawings and specifications to determine quantities and pricing.
• Coordinate subcontractor bids; issue bid invitations and review bids for scope and pricing.
• Schedule site visits with subcontractors, obtain best pricing, and develop bid presentations.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers; qualify new ones as needed.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings as necessary.
• Prepare project documents and schedules to keep PMs informed.
• Present to Owner and Architects as needed.

What You’ll Do:

• Calculate accurate labor, equipment, and material costs for wood frame and other commercial construction projects and remodels
• Review drawings and specifications to determine quantities and calculate pricing
• Coordinate subcontractor bids, including preparing bid invitations, reviewing incoming bids for scope and pricing, scheduling site visits with subcontractors to review the scope of projects, acquiring best pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and developing bid presentations
• Communicate with low bidder for final overview and assure completeness of bid
• Develop and maintain positive communication with subcontractors and suppliers, including researching and qualifying new subcontractors and suppliers, and maintaining lists of preferred subcontractors and suppliers to present to clients
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, as necessary
• Prepare project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules and other documentation to assure a steady stream of information to the Project Managers
• Present to Owner and Architects as needed

Requirements

• 2+ years of related estimating experience working on commercial construction projects, both public and private bidding
• Experience with hard bids
• Passion for commercial construction
• Knowledgeable in wood frame construction
• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications relative to the scope of work and schedule specified for each project within bid time frame
• Ability to read plans and perform material takeoffs and estimates
• Must be able to meet bid deadlines
• Proficient in Excel and On-screen take-off or comparable
• Ability to communicate with other professional contractors
• A degree and/or certification in Estimating, Construction Management, and/or Architecture is strongly preferred
