Job summary

Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. in Lexington, KY, seeks an estimator with 1-3 years of construction estimating experience to prepare cost estimates and manage bid activities. You will takeoffs, obtain vendor quotes, attend meetings with clients and teams, and maintain project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepares construction cost estimates by taking off quantities and analyzing costs.
• Obtains quotes from vendors/subcontractors and ensures scopes meet project needs.
• Attends meetings and communicates with customers, professionals, suppliers, and team members.
• Field measure and take core samples on existing buildings.
• Prepares special reports by collecting and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
• Records actions and needs to ensure continuity across teams.
• Maintains professional knowledge by attending workshops and networking.
• Researches upcoming projects and tracks bid volumes.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares construction cost estimates by doing takeoffs and analyzing all costs associated with the work.
• Obtains quotes from vendors and subcontractors and ensures that scopes and qualifications meet project needs.
• Attends meetings and speaks with customers, professionals, suppliers and team members.
• Field measure and take core samples on existing buildings.
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
• Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
• Research upcoming projects
• Track bid volumes for reporting
• Other duties as assigned
