Job summary

Ironmark Building Co. is seeking an Estimating Intern to join the Preconstruction team in mid-late May 2027. You will assist with project setup, bid strategy, quantity takeoffs, and subcontractor pricing to prepare competitive bids.

You’ll interact with subcontractors, vendors, and project teammates, gaining hands-on experience in how projects are evaluated, priced, and pursued in the early stages of construction. This is an office role with potential site exposure.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a 4-year Construction Program.
• Understanding of construction practices and industry standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork with estimators and vendors.
• Self-starter with proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and desire to learn.
• Ability to present information verbally and in writing.
• English literacy for reports and correspondence; basic math incl. algebra and geometry.
• Reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project setup and bid document organization.
• Review drawings and specs for estimates and takeoffs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs with Bluebeam and OST.
• Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing.
• Track bid coverage and follow up with bidders.

Ironmark Building Co. is looking for an Estimating Intern to begin in mid-late May 2027. You will assist the Preconstruction team in evaluating project documents, developing estimates, soliciting subcontractor pricing, and compiling the information necessary to prepare competitive and comprehensive bids.

What you’ll do:

You will gain knowledge and experience while assisting with project setup, bid strategy, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, price vetting, and estimate assembly and review. You will also have opportunities to interact with subcontractors, vendors, and members of the project team throughout the estimating process. The level of involvement depends on specific project needs, Preconstruction team needs, and your individual abilities. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and understand how projects are evaluated, priced, and pursued from the early stages of construction. While primarily an office position, you may spend time at the jobsite or gain exposure to project management and field operations as opportunities arise.

• Basic knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.) as well as an understanding of industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
