Job summary

Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC is seeking a Construction Engineering Practice Director to lead the engineering practice as a dedicated business unit across six offices. This role requires balancing staffing, workload, and operational execution while maintaining high technical credibility with field teams.

The position focuses on people, capacity, and operations, working closely with regional operations and preconstruction leadership to align resources with business needs and set a five-year strategy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of engineering and design experience.
• PE license is required.
• SE license preferred.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and staffing functions.
• Ability to lead an engineering practice as a business unit.
• Strong technical credibility and understanding of project execution.
• Experience with means and methods engineering for heavy civil structures; bridge/ dam experience desired.
• Experience allocating resources across multiple offices or projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to align engineering resources with business needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the construction engineering practice as a business unit across six offices.

• Allocate work across projects and offices to balance workload.
• Hire senior engineers ahead of demand and support workforce planning.
• Provide day-to-day leadership of the engineering team and staff development.
• Build relationships with operations and preconstruction leadership to align field needs.
• Partner with the Director of Engineering to support strategic initiatives.
• Set five-year strategy and priorities for the practice.
• Support staffing decisions and long-term growth planning.
• Ensure resources meet schedule, quality, and business objectives.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate across offices to maintain consistent execution.
