Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Construction Engineer in Portland, Maine to draft and analyze temporary works designs that align with contract documents and regulatory standards. You will focus on constructability, cost effectiveness, and seamless integration with on-site construction activities.

The role requires a Civil/Structural engineering background, EIT/EI preferred, and familiarity with AutoCAD, RISA, LARSA, and MathCAD. Strong technical writing and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural or related Engineering field required.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) preferred.
• Internal Training Crane level I and II preferred.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, RISA suite, LARSA and MathCAD are a plus.
• Knowledge and understanding of constructability and construction practices.
• Verbal, written and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical input on temporary works construction designs to ensure constructability and compliance to project contract specifications.
• Drafts design plans for temporary works (falsework, shoring, temporary bridges, formwork, slopes, etc.), ensuring completeness and accuracy with regulatory standards and within the contract specifications.
• Designs temporary construction elements ensuring ease of constructability, cost effectiveness with materials onsite or purchased, balancing between optimization and feasibility of onsite project construction.
• Submits design for peer review or approval review in an accurate and timely manner to avoid construction delays on the project site. Senior engineer or manager to seal designs following approval review.
