Job summary

Pinnacle Specialty Group is seeking a motivated Field Engineer to provide planning and technical oversight for field construction within a specified discipline. You will coordinate with design engineers, review constructability, and ensure compliance with drawings, specs and codes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 5+ years of construction field engineering experience.
  • Associate degree in engineering with 5–10 years of construction experience.

  • Working knowledge of discipline codes and standards.
  • Experience generating work execution plans and performing hazards analyses.
  • Experience performing material take-off and procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Review design output and vendor documents.
  • Conduct field walk downs with design engineers to verify constructability.
  • Verify field conditions against design output and ensure code compliance.
  • Develop or support creation of work execution plans and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate material delivery and verify received vs. ordered materials.
  • Lead hazard analysis reviews and ensure timely disposition of comments.
  • Provide field support and drive resolution of installation issues.

Position Description

Field Engineer is responsible for planning and technical oversight of field construction activities within a specified discipline associated with procurement, fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and components. Coordinates with Design agencies to ensure timely issuance of new design or design changes. Walk down and review designs for constructability, resolve design problems encountered in the field during construction and meets with and discusses solutions with Design Engineers. Inspects / verifies materials, equipment, and construction workmanship and assures compliance with drawings, specifications and code requirements. Coordinates with Quality Control to ensure the installation meets the requirements. Participates in turnover activities. Supports / participates in start-up and functional check out of equipment and systems.

Position requires a thorough understanding of Construction Engineering principles and ability to apply these principles to field conditions. Experience in the preparation of computer-based construction work execution plans (work Packages) including job specific hazards analysis, i.e. Asset Suite and Assisted Hazard Analysis or equivalent.

Position Responsibilities

  • Walk downs with craft supervision & support groups
  • Develop installation sequence
  • Generate work instructions
  • Generate inspection and test records or coordinate with quality control
  • Understand layout / survey needs and generate layout / survey requests
  • Generate hazards analysis for field execution of construction scope
  • Support/lead team hazard analysis review meetings
Work Execution Plan Development (Cont.)

Work Execution Field Coverage & Support
  • Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers
  • Perform task ready walk down with craft supervision
  • Verify quantities of installed commodities
  • Coordinate daily field support
  • Expedite / order material as required
  • Coordinate material testing
  • Coordinate and status shop fabrication in support of field execution
  • Perform field inspections
  • Identify and coordinate resolution of field installation issues
Work Execution Plan Closure
  • Generate design completion notices
  • Ensure accuracy of work execution plan status
  • Close all required permits
  • Close work execution plan documentation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in (specified discipline) engineering and at least 5 years of practical experience in construction (specified discipline) field engineering or
  • Associate's degree in (specified discipline) engineering and 5-10 years of practical experience in construction (specified discipline) engineering or
  • High school diploma and 10+ years of practical experience in construction (specified discipline) engineering
  • Working knowledge of discipline specific codes and standards
  • Previous experience with generating work execution plans (preferably utilizing the Asset Suite work control system)
  • Previous experience with generating job hazards analysis
  • Previous experience performing material take off and procurement
Additional Position Requirements
Work hours
  • A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRR construction utilizes a 10 hour per day - four days per week schedule.
  • A standard work week is Monday through Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm. However, alternate schedules could be employed.
  • Workweek excludes SRR holidays.
Security
  • Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver's license
  • Personal vehicles operated by candidate must have valid registration
  • Personal vehicles operated by candidate must be insured with proof of insurance within the vehicle
The position requires the following specific requirements
  • Experienced with pipe / tubing fabrication and installation
  • Experienced with pipe support fabrication and installationExperienced with pipe testing, hydrostatic and pneumatic
  • Familiar with National Codes ASME Piping codes B31.1 and B31.3
  • Capable of interpreting design drawings, P&ID's and Orthographics
  • Knowledge of SRS specific piping guides and standards is a plus
  • Familiar with National Codes and Standards (ASME relative to Tank fabrication/installation, rotating and stationary Equipment, H&V, Insulation, etc.) and capable of interpreting and analyzing requirements to ensure compliance
  • Experienced in H&V fabrication / installation / testing
  • Experienced in setting of equipment, pumps and alignments
  • Knowledge of SRS specific mechanical guides and standards is a plus
  • Experience in developing ordinary and critical lift plans is a plus
  • Experienced in radiological work planning and hazard analysis is desirable
  • Capable of climbing and spending extended periods of time in the field
  • Capable of obtaining qualification to work in radiological work areas
Work Environment / Physical Demands

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Light to moderate lifting may be required for packages and other items, ability to walk short distances, may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
