Job summary

Garney is seeking a Construction Deck Hand in Nashville to join our marine operations. You will assist with rigging, signaling and pipe assembly while keeping the barge deck and equipment clean and well-maintained.

The role requires following safety protocols, participating in drills, and supporting crew members with effective teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The position emphasizes safety, adaptability, and physical fitness with opportunities to learn and grow within Garney's marine

Qualifications

• Experience in marine construction preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
• BST/CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.
• Able to lift, climb and work in various weather conditions.

GARNEY

A Construction Deck Hand position is available at Garney. As a Construction Deck Hand you will be an integral part of the crew, responsible for assisting with the daily operations for marine construction activities.. This role requires teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to safety on the water. This role is vital to the smooth operation of our marine services.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assist with rigging, signaling and pipe assembly and other construction related activities
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the barge deck and equipment, including cleaning deck/barge, equipment and report any equipment malfunctions or repairs
• Follow all safety protocols and assist in safety drills. Ensure that safety equipment is accessible and in good condition
• Support other crew members in their tasks as needed, maintaining effective communication and teamwork

What We Are Looking For

• Previous experience in a marine construction is preferred but not required. Willingness to learn and adapt is essential
• Experience with hand tools is a plus
• Previous experience with rigging and working around cranes/heavy equipment preferred, but not required
• Basic Safety Training (BST) or equivalent certifications preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications are a plus
• Strong teamwork and communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Must be physically fit and able to perform tasks that require lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions
