Job summary

Leidos Inc is seeking a Cost and Schedule Engineer to manage costs and schedules for power generation projects. The position is open to all experience levels with possibilities for remote work. Duties include supporting project managers and providing expert advice on cost estimating and scheduling.

Job Description

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a construction project Cost and Schedule Engineer (open to all levels) with responsibility for reviewing the capital costs and construction schedules of new and existing power generation projects, including wind, solar, hydro, and thermal projects as an Independent Engineer.

Location

Fully remote is possible for experienced candidates and will be evaluated case‑by‑case. The ideal candidate is located within commuting distance of Denver, CO or Framingham, MA and works three days per week in‑person at a Leidos‑managed office.

Responsibilities
  • Support project managers during transactional due diligence reviews.
  • Serve as subject‑matter expertise in cost estimating and project scheduling, review of EPC contract exhibits, and review of project budgets, forecasts, estimates, and schedules.
  • Provide Owner’s Engineering and advisory support.
  • Assist the team in support of managing projects, developing sales proposals, and technology reviews.
Qualifications
  • Junior Level: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with two or more years of experience on industrial, power‑delivery, or power‑generation project design.
  • Mid‑Level: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with four or more years of experience on industrial, power‑delivery, or power‑generation project design.
  • Senior Level: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or construction disciplines with eight or more years of experience on industrial, power‑delivery, or power‑generation project design.
  • Construction experience (estimating, scheduling, project controls, or project engineering) with increasing responsibility.
  • Field engineering experience during the construction of projects.
  • Team player with ability to communicate effectively with internal staff and external parties such as owners, developers, lenders, investors and manufacturers.
  • Experience with project controls: estimating, reviewing contractor proposals, reviewing equipment supply agreements, creating and reviewing project schedules, and overall experience with various phases of construction projects.
  • General knowledge of construction safety.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling software (Primavera and Project).
  • Self‑starter able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet client deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to manage schedule commitments related to multiple project reviews simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop and deliver work product with limited guidance.
  • Position requires travel for project site visits; travel may include international trips.
  • Position may include extended hours to support client needs.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
Favorable
  • Experience in construction of power generation projects (natural gas, wind, solar, rooftop systems).
  • Familiarity with review of EPC contracts.
  • Familiarity with project controls including critical‑path and earned‑value management.
  • Active FE/EIT certification with aspiration to obtain professional engineering licensure.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Familiarity with large construction projects (industrial, large commercial, mechanical, electrical systems, or electrical transmission and distribution).
Pay and Benefits

Pay range: $107,900.00 – $195,050.00. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline and not a guarantee of compensation.
