Qualifications

  • Experience: minimum 2 years in industrial construction coordination and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety on projects and set safety expectations for contractors.
  • Secure safe work permits with site EHS and monitor permits daily.
  • Maintain active field presence during construction activity and site turnarounds.
  • Promote safety culture by coaching field contractors on safe work practices.
  • Monitor productivity and schedule performance and report risks to the Construction Manager.
  • Communicate construction status to Project Managers and stakeholders.
  • Provide daily updates to the schedule of values with the Projects Scheduler.
  • Manage multiple field contractors to meet deliverables.
  • Occasionally work nights and/or weekends to support site activity.
  • Stop work when safety triggers occur and escalate concerns.
  • Deliver weekly contractor progress reports to the Project Manager and scheduler.
  • Review field installations against design intent daily.
  • Provide contractor feedback on schedule improvements.
  • Identify field safety hazards daily and document them.

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

Job Summary: Generally responsible for performing construction coordination for small to moderate construction assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision.

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • A leader in safety on assigned projects including setting safety and environmental performance expectations of contractors and holding them accountable through standard daily walkthroughs.
  • In cooperation with the site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization, accountable for securing safe work permits for contractors, ensuring all applicable daily permits are in place before the start of work, and monitoring compliance with required permits throughout the day.
  • Maintains an active presence in the field during construction activity and site turnarounds
  • Promotes a strong culture of safety by partnering with the site EHS team to monitor, audit, and coach field contractors on safe work best practices.
  • Monitors construction productivity and schedule performance of their assigned projects while providing feedback on risks identified to the site Construction Manager
  • Able to communicate construction status effectively with site Project Managers and Project Stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate daily construction updates to the Projects Scheduler so a schedule of values can be maintained for their assigned projects
  • Able to manage and prioritize the works of multiple field contractors simultaneously to ensure project deliverables are met
  • Ability to occasionally work an adjusted shift (nights and/or weekends) to support site construction activity
  • Responsible to 'stop work' when stop work triggers are met and Immediate escalation of any field contractor safety concerns to site EHS department and the assigned Project Manager
  • Weekly construction contractor progress reports delivered to the assigned Project Manager and site scheduler
  • Daily reviews conducted to ensure what is installed in the field matches the design intent
  • Daily reviews of project schedule with contractor. Daily feedback should be supplied to the contractor identifying areas of opportunity for schedule improvement.
  • Daily identification of field safety hazards that could affect contractor work going on that day. These hazards should be documented and reviewed with the contractor daily before start of work.

Ideal Background
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.
  • Licensing: No licensing is required for this position.
  • Experience: This position requires a minimum 2 years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.

  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
