Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Controller for a growing, PE-backed construction company. The role leads accounting operations, including project costing, WIP, revenue recognition, and financial reporting, partnering with executive leadership.

The ideal candidate holds an active CPA license with 7+ years in construction accounting, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. This hands-on leader will drive process improvements and help scale finance infrastructure in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• CPA licensed candidate with construction accounting experience.
• 7+ years progressive accounting experience, incl. construction.
• Experience with private equity-backed environments preferred.
• GAAP knowledge and project-based financial reporting.
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, cash management, and financial reporting.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
• Oversee construction job costing, project accounting, cost-to-complete analysis, and job-level profitability.
• Manage and review WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, earned revenue, and gross margin calculations.
• Partner with project management and operations teams to analyze project performance, change orders, labor costs, committed costs, and cost-to-complete estimates.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and KPIs.
• Develop and maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and operational efficiency; support audits and tax compliance.
