Job summary

Confidential, a well-established concrete construction company, is seeking a Construction Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This hands-on role partners with ownership and senior management to drive growth, improve controls, and optimize project profitability across commercial, multifamily, industrial, and residential projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership in construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, percentage-of-completion accounting, and WIP reporting.
  • Experience managing accounting operations for commercial, multifamily, industrial, or concrete construction projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with bonding, insurance reporting, and lender relationships is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with ownership, operations, and project management teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the company’s full accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Oversee all construction accounting functions, including job costing, project financial tracking, contract management, and WIP reporting
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting for ownership
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, and working capital to support ongoing operations and growth initiatives
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and profitability reporting across multiple active construction projects
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger functions
  • Partner with operations and project management teams to monitor project performance, labor productivity, and cost controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, internal controls, and construction industry best practices
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, insurance reporting, and bonding requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting systems, and financial controls to support scalability
  • Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to ownership and executive leadership

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including variance analysis and reporting for ownership

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and profitability reporting across multiple active construction projects

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
