Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide construction contract administration throughout the construction phase of multiple projects.
  • Perform regular site visits and observe construction progress, quality, and conformance with contract documents.
  • Work directly with contractors, owners, architects, consultants, and project teams to resolve field‑related questions and concerns.
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, construction documents, and contract requirements.
  • Assist with RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, pay applications, punch lists, and project closeout activities.
  • Identify potential construction issues and coordinate with the appropriate project team members to develop solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of building codes, construction methods, materials, assemblies, and industry standards.
  • Help maintain strong client and contractor relationships throughout the construction process.
  • Represent the architecture firm professionally in the field and help protect the quality and integrity of the firm's designs through construction.
  • Travel to active project sites throughout North Carolina and South Carolina as required.

Qualifications:

  • Approximately 15–25 years of relevant professional experience in architecture, construction, construction administration, or a closely related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and construction contract administration.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methods, materials, assemblies, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience working with Owner/Contractor agreements and construction contracts.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work effectively with contractors, owners, consultants, and design professionals.
  • Comfortable working in active construction environments and able to meet the physical demands associated with construction‑site visits.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CSI Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) credential.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
  • Previous experience working within an architecture or design firm.
  • Extensive field experience overseeing commercial or institutional construction.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned construction professional who understands both the design side and field execution side of a project. You enjoy putting on a hard hat and boots, walking a job site, communicating directly with contractors, and solving problems in real time.

This role offers significant interaction with firm principals and project teams and is well suited for someone who takes ownership of their projects and understands the importance of carrying the design team's vision successfully through construction.
