Job summary

Mullins is seeking a Compliance Specialist to support enterprise-wide compliance within the accounting and finance function of a large industrial mechanical contractor. This role coordinates sales/use tax, prequalification, subcontractor compliance, licensing, and lien waivers to reduce risk and enable timely project execution.

The position requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate across accounting, operations, project management, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, construction management, or related field.
• Three or more years in accounting, compliance, tax administration, or construction support.
• Construction industry experience and knowledge of sales/use tax concepts preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and construction accounting systems.
• Strong organization, written and verbal communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee sales and use tax compliance for multi-state operations.
• Coordinate prequalification packages with customers, vendors, and auditors.
• Maintain subcontractor compliance records and update Avetta/ISN profiles.
• Support contractor licensing, registrations, and renewals.
• Assist with lien waiver management and project documentation.
• Develop compliance calendars, trackers, and standard workpapers.
