Zurich is currently seeking an experienced Construction Casualty Underwriter - (Senior or AVP) to join our Midwest Team in Michigan. While this position is remote, you must reside in Michigan to apply. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and will require up to 10% travel.

As a Construction Casualty Underwriter, you will handle complex new and renewal accounts across Auto, GL, and Worker's Compensation. You will have the opportunity to apply and hone your underwriting and marketing skills while building relationships with our Preferred Distribution Partners in Ohio. This is an exciting time to join Zurich's Construction division!

This role will be filled at either the Senior Underwriter or AVP level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the applicant's experience and skills.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a customer industry advocate, focusing on improving the customer experience by understanding their risks and offering end-to-end insurance solutions.
• Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
• Leverage risk insights, data, and models to make informed decisions at the point of sale.
• Be market-facing and contribute to production within the growing Construction division.
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Work within broad limits and authority on complex assignments.

Qualifications:

Construction Casualty Underwriter (Senior):

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 10+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years (or 8+ years in claims/support).
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Construction Casualty Underwriter (AVP):

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles, or 14+ years in claims/support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 5+ years (or 12+ years in claims/support).
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Technical knowledge of Construction Casualty Underwriting.
• Established broker relationships (retail brokers) in Ohio.
• Sales execution mindset.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
