Job summary

Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Newtok, Alaska is seeking a skilled carpenter for seasonal and temporary work in the Construction department. Responsibilities include constructing, repairing, and maintaining wooden structures using hand and power tools, and assisting with general maintenance as directed.

Minimum five years of carpentry experience is required, with Alaska Journeyman Carpenter certification preferred and a valid Alaska driver’s license.

Position Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five (5) years minimum experience in carpentry related work. Must be able to travel to village work sites occasionally. Alaska Journeyman Carpenter certification preferred.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver's License. Alaska Journeyman Carpenter Certification Preferred.
• Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment. May be exposed to toxic chemicals. Works in precarious or high locations (ladders, scaffolding, etc.).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
