Bodwé Group Companies, based in Maryland, seeks an experienced General Construction Building Inspector/QA Representative to provide quality management and QA support for repair, renovation, and modernization work at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC).

The role requires at least ten years of field experience, familiarity with USACE Three-Phase Inspection Process, EM 385-1-1, and the CQM-C program. Travel, a Real ID or Passport, and a valid driver's license are mandatory.

Qualifications

Licensed Building Inspector with minimum 10 years of field experience in construction/renovation/modernization mechanical disciplines.
Experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Three-Phase Inspection Process and EM 385-1-1 Safety Manual.
Familiarity with USACE EM 385-1-1 Safety Manual required.
Certifications: OSHA 30-hr, CQM-C; CE-SOHMS familiarity within 90 days on site.
Must have Real ID or Passport for travel and a valid driver's license.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Review plans and specifications during design and construction for contract compliance, constructability, and technical correctness.
Evaluate submittals, shop drawings, samples, and contractor requests for information or clarification, and provide written comments and recommended responses to the COR.
Perform continual on-site surveillance of general construction activities, inspect the construction contractor’s quality-control activities, and monitor and document required testing.
Review schedules, identify performance deficiencies and potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
Attend weekly progress meetings with architects, engineers, and construction contractors; report problems and recommended resolutions; and support the team’s monthly safety spot checks.
Review change requests, cost proposals, requests for equitable adjustment, and claims, and provide supporting analysis for Government decisions on modifications and time extensions.
Prepare daily RMS reports, signed weekly reports, weekly progress photographs, and inspection and testing checklists.
Support punch-list preparation before Government acceptance, review final as-built drawings for accuracy, and collect and review warranty and closeout documentation.
Coordinate with the mechanical and electrical representatives and other project stakeholders to support the turnover of required project information to WRNMMC personnel.

Licensed Building Inspector or Superintendent/Quality Control Manager/ Quality Assurance Representative with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant field experience working in construction/renovation/modernization mechanical disciplines of work.
Prior experience utilizing and participating in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Three-Phase Inspection Process as well as prior experience utilizing and following USACE EM 385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual.

Personnel shall have the following training/certifications within 90 days of being on site: OSHA 30-hr, Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQM-C) and familiarity with USACE Safety Management System (CE-SOHMS).

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.

Working Environment

This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.

This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.

Physical Demands

Sitting/Standing: This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.
Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.
Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.
Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.
Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.
Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.
Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.
