Job summary

Lamar Advertising Company in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an Operations crew member to install and maintain billboards across Columbus and surrounding areas. Training and equipment are provided; this full-time role suits independent workers who can plan their day and manage schedules.

You will primarily work alone, performing installations, repairs, and safety checks, while documenting work and attending required safety meetings.

Qualifications

  • Must work alone and manage work schedules effectively.
  • English reading and speaking fluency required.

  • Basic computer skills including Internet navigation and Microsoft Word & Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain all billboards.
  • Remove/hang flexes and vinyls and install copy on Tri-Visions.
  • Perform maintenance repairs and safety checks.
  • Build/install extensions, cut brush/weeds, and conduct storm damage repairs.
  • Use power/manual tools adhering to safety regulations.
  • Attend safety meetings.
  • Maintain vehicles, tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Take completion photos for proof of performance.

Description

Would you like to see a different part of your city every day from a bird’s-eye view? Our Lamar office in Columbus, Ohio is now hiring a new Operations crew member to bring advertising campaigns to life for brands in Columbus, OH and surrounding areas. Training and equipment are provided. This is a full‑time opportunity for an independent worker who can plan their day and manage work schedules effectively.

The purpose of this position is to install and maintain billboards, including the installation of advertisements, the maintenance of structures, and the upkeep of billboard cosmetics. The job most often involves working alone.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain all billboards
  • Remove and hang flexes and vinyls, cut and prepare flexes and vinyls for installation, and install a copy on Tri‑Visions
  • Perform maintenance repairs: tighten bolts, paint steel structures, repair trim and sign face parts, change light bulbs, assemble structures and faces when required
  • Build and install extensions, cut brush/weeds, conduct storm damage repairs, perform minor electrical repairs, and sweep/clean workshop area
  • Use power/manual tools while adhering to all safety regulations
  • Attend safety meetings as required
  • Maintain operation vehicles, tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Take completion photos for proof of performance
Qualifications
  • Must be able to work alone and manage work schedules effectively
  • Good communication skills and fluency in speaking and reading English
  • Must be willing to work and get along well with others
  • Basic computer skills, including Internet navigation and Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Ability to comply with Lamar safety standards while performing work
  • Ability to work from ladders and carry ladders and/or other tools to the worksite from a vehicle
  • Working knowledge of electrical skills and techniques
  • Working knowledge of fabrication skills and techniques
  • Skill in reading technical documents, such as blueprints and diagrams
  • General knowledge of Lamar, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety regulations
  • Ability to safely use construction equipment for outdoor structure construction and maintenance
  • Ability to climb and work at heights safely
  • Ability to document installations through photographs and written logs
  • Skill in practical applications of mathematics related to construction and operations tasks
  • Skill in setting priorities that accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • OSHA 10‑hour Construction course completion is required
  • One additional certification required (CDL/Non‑CDL, Crane, Signal, Rigging, or LDD)
  • 5 years of operations experience in the outdoor advertising industry or equivalent experience in a safety‑related position is required, or some equivalent combination of education and experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Primary work environment is outdoors, requiring ability to work in adverse weather and climb to heights up to 200 ft.
  • Physical demands include heavy lifting up to 100 pounds, extensive bending, pushing, reaching, seeing (reading, color distinction, acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision), standing, stooping, talking, turning, walking, driving, and climbing.
  • Nights spent away from home traveling are less than 10%.
  • On‑call shifts may be required.
