Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Construction Automation Engineer to lead automation on Lake Charles LNG project. You will manage a suite of automation tools, configure workflows, and coordinate data flows across design, supply chain and project controls. The role emphasizes data integrity, reporting, and end-user support on site.

The ideal candidate has strong Unifier/Power Apps experience, Bechtel standard process knowledge, and excellent communication skills to support field personnel and project teams.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree or international equivalent and 5–12 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with engineering/construction methods and Bechtel BSAPs is expected.
• Advanced databases knowledge needed; familiarity with data transfer between apps preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish and administer the Construction Automation applications portfolio (Unifier, Power Apps, AI-enabled solutions, TEAMWorks, SetRoute, WITS, SSRS, BPS/Xfighters, AWP Tools, DCS/MAP).
• Maintain existing and create new Unifier and Power Apps workflows.
• Define requirements for Construction Automation Systems to support field work processes.
• Coordinate with design engineering, supply chain, project controls, and other departments to automate data transfer between applications.
• Configure BSAPs and other applications to meet project requirements.
• Understand reporting needs and configure reports accordingly; ensure accuracy and functionality.
• Review and troubleshoot data for accuracy and completeness; address anomalies.
• Provide ongoing administration to BSAPs and support end users (field engineering, supervision, etc.).
• Interface with corporate BSAP admins to modify functionality or configuration for project needs.

Project Overview:

Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants. Each process plant consists of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m3 full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead construction automation efforts for complex projects, using database management, programming skills, and 3D tools. You will establish and administer the portfolio of construction automation applications on the jobsite and data requirements. You will review performance and recommend adjustments to tailor solutions to support strategy and compliance. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

• The Construction Automation Engineer is responsible for establishing and administering the suite of Construction Automation applications. This includes, but is not limited to, the following applications:Unifier, PowerApps, AI - enabled solutions, TEAMWorks, SetRoute, WITS (Weld and Welder tracking system), Smart Completions, SSRS, Bechtel Productivity Services (BPS) (Xfighters), AWP Tools and DCS/ MAP.
• Maintain existing and create new Unifier and Power Apps Workflows.
• Work with the Project Team to establish the requirements for Construction Automation Systems to support construction work processes.
• Coordinate with design engineering, supply chain, project controls, and other departments to establish automated data transfer between applications.
• Configure BSAPs and other applications to meet project requirements.
• Understand reporting requirements for each application and configure reports accordingly. Ensure reports are accurate and functioning as intended.
• Review/trouble-shoot data for accuracy and completeness. Identify and address anomalies.
• Provide ongoing administration to each BSAP.
• Provide training and technical support to end users, including field engineering, supervision, administration, project controls, and other site personnel.
• Interface with corporate BSAP administrators to change functionality or configuration of applications to meet project specific requirements.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction and practical experience is required.
• Extensive knowledge of Unifier and linking Unifier to Bechtel BSAPs and other applications is required.
• Extensive knowledge of Power Apps and linking Power Apps to Bechtel BSAPs and other applications is required.
• Extensive knowledge of TEAMWorks and associated applications used for data integrity and reporting is required.
• Experience with other Bechtel Standard applications, including but not limited to SETROUTE and DSCS/EBS required.
• A good understanding of Bechtel standard construction work processes and procedures required.
• Advanced level capability of databases is required.
• Bechtel Direct Hire Construction experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

Additional Information:

Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
