Job summary

Valor Contracting in the Upper Midwest seeks a Traveling Assistant Superintendent to oversee safety, compliance, scheduling, and material handling on a large data-center project near Mandan, ND. This on-site, travel-heavy role coordinates across trades and maintains project documentation, cost tracking, and stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate has a construction management degree, 4+ years' field experience, proficiency with plan readings and CM software, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in construction management or related occupation.
  • Experience in construction layout, plan, and shop drawing readings.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience and construction management software programs.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adjust project schedules coordinating across trades.
  • Manage site logistics including access, material storage, deliveries and equipment.
  • Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with plans, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Oversee subcontractor work and maintain site documentation, including RFI's, daily reports, and safety records.
  • Oversee procurement, vendor management, and material ordering.
  • Oversee punch list completion and final project inspections.
  • Lead project coordination meetings and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Track and report on costs, including labor and materials.
  • Serve as the primary contact for project communication and stakeholder management.
  • Manage the preparation of final as-builts and closeout documentation.
  • Conduct safety orientations and training for site personnel.

About The Role
Traveling Assistant Superintendent

The Traveling Assistant Superintendent is responsible for a specific portion of a construction project. Significant areas of responsibility are safety, compliance, coordination of materials, scheduling, and proper handling of project materials.

Position Logistics
  • Work Environment: On-Site
  • Location & Project Information: This will be a large datacenter project located near Mandan, ND
  • Work Schedule: 50 hours / week or based on project schedule needs. Opportunities to travel to additional project sites may be available.
  • Work Type: Full Time
  • Travel Details: This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be located onsite at a project location for the duration of the project. Per diem will be provided for those traveling greater than 75 miles form their home address. This position will be eligible for routine travel home. A company vehicle will be provided.
Position Responsibilities
