Role Description

The Construction Assistant Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Chicago Area. This role supports project managers in planning, organizing, and overseeing commercial roofing and sheet metal projects from pre-construction through closeout. Daily responsibilities include assisting with project scheduling, coordinating subcontractors and field crews, tracking materials and equipment, and helping ensure jobsite safety and quality standards are met. The position involves supporting budget and cost tracking, preparing and maintaining project documentation, and communicating with clients, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects on schedule. The Construction Assistant Project Manager also helps resolve on-site issues, participates in progress meetings, and contributes to continuous improvement of project delivery processes.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess skills in Construction Project Management and Construction Management, including familiarity with commercial roofing or similar construction environments.
• Candidates should possess skills in Project Management and Project Coordination, with the ability to manage schedules, resources, and communication across multiple stakeholders.
• Candidates should possess skills in Budgeting, including basic cost tracking, understanding of estimates, and support of financial reporting for projects.
• Relevant experience in commercial construction, industrial or roofing projects, or a related field is beneficial.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and jobsite safety.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with field crews, supervisors, and clients.
• Proficiency with construction-related software (e.g., project management tools, spreadsheets) and basic computer skills.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
