Charles Joy Executive Search and Staffing seeks an Assistant Controller to support the Controller and project managers with accounting tasks including WIP, project cost, budgeting, forecasting, monthly close, GL reconciliation, AP and AR. Minnesota-based candidates with construction industry exposure are preferred; hybrid on-site work in the Twin Cities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related business field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related accounting experience, preferably in construction.
• Construction industry accounting experience.
• Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLookups.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interview and work on-site in the Twin Cities (hybrid schedule).

Responsibilities

• Support AP, AR, work-in-progress, project accounting and other areas as needed.
• Monthly Close / Reporting: reconciling GLs and preparing monthly financial statements.
• Oversee and manage P&L including budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• General ledger functions and timely journal entries.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for projects.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiencies.
