Job summary

Cordoba Corporation, a leading engineering and design firm based in California, seeks a Constructability Review Specialist (General) to review construction documents for constructability in educational facilities. This on-site role in Los Angeles requires deep knowledge of construction processes and practical solutions to anticipate issues.

Responsibilities include value engineering, coordinating design disciplines, and producing pre-bid constructability reviews.

Qualifications

  • 15 years full-time professional experience with an Architecture degree and the following: 10 years as Construction Administrator, 5 years as Designer.
  • Projects shall have a construction value of $8M or more for a single project or with a combined cumulative project value of $80M.
  • Alternatively 15 years as Project Superintendent/Project Manager on public/educational facilities with large project values.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in defining and reviewing the Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule including interim housing requirements.
  • Makes value engineering recommendations at the outset of the design.
  • Comments on the design professional’s deliverable identifying inconsistencies, ambiguities, conflicts, errors and omissions to reduce RFIs and Change Orders.
  • Ensures documents are coordinated between design disciplines.
  • Prepares comprehensive constructability review of pre-bid construction documents.
  • Coordinates the above efforts with the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative.

Overview

Cordoba Corporation is a leading engineering and design firm based in California. We are seeking a Constructability Review Specialist (General) to join our Facilities Sector. The ideal candidate will review, comment, and provide practical solutions as to the constructability of construction documents in educational facilities. Facilities projects are constantly being developed throughout the district’s construction bond program, architects & engineers continue to design and generate contract plans and specifications for those same projects, requiring a fine eye from a Constructability Review Specialist that understands the construction process, materials, methods, etc. and providing common sense solutions to the upcoming building process.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in defining and reviewing the Project Requirement Document scope of work and schedule including interim housing requirements.
  • Makes value engineering recommendations at the outset of the design.
  • Comments on the design professional’s deliverable identifying inconsistencies, ambiguities,
  • conflicts, errors and omissions in the progress plans to reduce RFIs and Change Order.
  • Ensures documents are coordinated between design disciplines.
  • Prepares comprehensive constructability review of pre-bid construction documents.
  • Coordinates the above efforts with the Design Manager and Owner Authorized Representative in a collaborative way.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 15 years full-time professional experience with an Architecture degree and the following:
    • 10 of those years must be acting as a Construction Administrator
    • 5 years remaining, must be acting as a Designer.
    • Construction Administrator experience shall be on a public/educational facility construction project with full responsibility for supporting those projects.
    • Projects shall have a construction value of $8M or more for a single project or with a combined cumulative project value of $80M.

OR

  • 15 years full-time professional experience as a Project Superintendent or Project Manager on a public/educational facility construction and/or large commercial projects with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects with a construction value of a single project in excess of $30M with a combined cumulative project value of $400M.

OR

  • Minimum of two (2) years college-level coursework from a recognized college, university or trade school and five (5) years additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
  • Proficient in writing RFC’s, reviewing submittals and change orders

  • Proficiency in computer programs (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.), including Bluebeam

  • Visa Sponsorship: not eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • Physical Requirements: must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Salary Range: $191,000 - $210,000 per year.

Location: Los Angeles, CA.

Work Environment: 100% onsite at district headquarters.
