Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for a night shift in the United States. The position supports patient care, records vital statistics, administers basic health care, and assists with daily living activities.

Work includes 12 scheduled hours per week with one 12-hour shift and two 6-hour shifts, every third weekend and holiday commitment. CNAs preferred; HS diploma or GED accepted; location: United States.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology and equipment.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Maintains required department competencies and certifications.
• ND Nursing Assistant Registry requirement if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Record vital statistics and assess patient condition to aid diagnosis and care.
• Administer basic healthcare and assist with daily living activities.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Collect non-invasive specimens from patients.
• Prepare treatment areas, clean equipment and dispose of biomedical waste.
• Perform scheduling and documentation tasks related to patient care.
• Communicate effectively with patients and team; provide one-on-one care when needed.

• One 12 hour shift per week: 7:00pm - 7:30am
• Two 6 hour shifts per week: 7:00pm - 1:30am or 1:30am - 7:30am
• Every third weekend and holiday commitment

Job Description

• Record vital statistics and other basic health information, including assessing patient's physical condition to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Administer basic health care and medical treatments; provide assistance with basic daily living activities, including dressing/undressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, etc., meal preparation and dining needs, emotional and spiritual needs, and laundry.
• Clean patient living areas or treatment rooms.
• Collect non-invasive biological specimens from patient.
• Prepare patient treatment areas for use; prepare and clean medical equipment; dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
• Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare.
• Strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are needed on a daily basis.
• When necessary for safe provision of care, employee will provide one on one care to patients.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
• Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
• If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the North Dakota Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry upon completion of training/competency validation or a maximum of four months from the date of initial employment.
