Job description

Overview

The Console Rigging Technician will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of rigging equipment and consoles. This role emphasizes the installation and integration of control consoles, wiring systems, and electronic hardware across a range of setups, ensuring smooth operations in line with production or operational requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain console equipment: Set up control consoles, including wiring, network connections, and hardware installation.
  • Troubleshoot control systems: Diagnose and repair issues related to console rigging, electrical systems, and other technical aspects.
  • Handle power and control systems: Use various tools (pneumatic, electric, and hand tools) to assemble and install power and control systems for console equipment.
  • Cable management: Efficiently cut, strip, splice, terminate, and route wire harnesses and cabling systems in console setups.
  • Console calibration and testing: Conduct detailed testing protocols to ensure console systems are properly calibrated and meet operational standards.
  • Equipment adjustment: Set up, adjust, and changeover console equipment based on project or production requirements.
  • Adherence to safety protocols: Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Rules, and Plant Safety Rules.
  • Collaboration with engineering and quality teams: Work closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure the correct setup and function of rigging systems, providing input on design drawings and technical requirements.
Qualifications

Required and Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with console setup, rigging, or live production environments.
  • Ability to utilize tools and technology related to control systems, including mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments.
  • Mechanical and electrical rigging experience is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to work on elevated platforms, lifting equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, squatting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and odors, typical in a production or industrial setting.
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye protection and closed-toed shoes.
