Job summary

Conservation Legacy seeks a positive and adaptive Maintenance Intern to support Valle de Oro NWR’s maintenance program from October 2026 to October 2027. The role involves equipment and facility upkeep, irrigation tasks, habitat maintenance, and visitor amenities support within a developing refuge.

You will work under AmeriCorps terms, with the possibility to gain hands-on experience in landscape management, vehicle maintenance, and safety practices while contributing to the refuge’s growth and

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tool use/safety and safety risk management concepts.
• Experience with maintenance, engineering equipment operation, wage grade, or related field.
• Ability to read manuals, drawings, and technical guides.

Responsibilities

• Assist vegetation management around Visitor Center and buildings; operate maintenance tools.
• Assist maintenance team with fencing, trail, and vehicle/equipment upkeep.
• Perform general cleaning tasks including stripping/waxing, dusting, mopping, and waste removal.
