Job summary

NEW Solutions is seeking an Archeologist in Amherst, MA, to support NRCS conservation efforts under the ACE program. The role will involve 80% field and 20% office work, focusing on evaluating cultural resources and documenting archaeological sites in Massachusetts.

Requires 20+ years of archaeology experience or a MA/MS in Archaeology plus GIS and Microsoft Office proficiency; travel to field sites is expected, with a flexible schedule and a strong emphasis on compliance and reporting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 20 years of experience in Archeology or MA/MS in Archaeology.
• Experience conducting archaeological work in the Northeastern US.
• Proficient with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, ArcGIS, and collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as program specialist to evaluate NRCS undertakings on archaeological resources in Massachusetts; 80% remote field work.
• Conduct desk reviews to identify sites and assess effects of NRCS projects.
• Interact with NRCS staff, partners, and contractors to evaluate undertakings.
• Research Massachusetts Historical Commission records and conduct onsite site visits.
• Provide training to staff on cultural resources policy and procedures.
