Job summary

The Public Interest Network is seeking a Conservation Advocate for Environment North Carolina in Raleigh, NC. This role leads policy development, coalition building, and public engagement to protect natural resources and wildlife.

With 2+ years of relevant experience and strong writing and speaking skills, you will organize events, recruit volunteers, and advocate for policy action while fundraising to support campaigns and growth of the team.

Qualifications

• An advocate or organizer with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
• Passionate about saving the natural world.
• Effective communicator with excellent writing and public speaking skills.
• Connector and listener with a track record of uniting people around a common goal.
• Creative and strategic thinker with strong problem-solving ability.
• Well-organized, goal-oriented, and able to stay accountable to a plan.
• Able to travel regularly and work evenings/weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Shape program priorities through policy development, research and messaging.
• Build coalitions with diverse organizations and stakeholder groups.
• Organize webinars, community events, and public meetings.
• Recruit and work with volunteers to expand impact.
• Earn traditional and social media attention for campaigns.
• Advocate to decision-makers via lobbying and written materials.
• Fundraise by writing grants and engaging donors to support campaigns.
• Grow the team by recruiting candidates and mentoring staff.
