Job summary

EY seeks a Data Scientist (Manager) in Chicago to lead analytics engagements, ingest and analyze large data sets, applying AI/ML at scale for clients. You will mentor junior staff and deliver BI insights using Power BI in a hybrid EY model.

Role requires 5 years of experience (or 4 with a Master’s) in quantitative modeling, Python/SQL, cloud tools, and data visualization. Travel up to 80% with some international travel; base salary is $151,920/year with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Data Science/IT/Engineering/Math/Stats/ML/MIS or related field with 5 years of progressive, post‑baccalaureate work experience.
• Master’s degree in CS/Data Science/IT/Engineering/Math/Stats/ML/MIS or related field with 4 years of work experience.
• 4 years of experience in quantitative modeling and analysis focusing on big‑data problem solving.
• 4 years of hands‑on experience in Python or SQL.
• 4 years of experience with data manipulation tools and libraries SQL, Pandas, or Spark.
• 4 years of experience in one or more cloud platforms: Azure, Amazon, Google.
• 4 years navigating database models to build data sets for analytics and model training and development.
• 2 years of experience modelling and visualizing data in Power BI or similar platforms.
• 1 year in delivery of intelligent automation services and the technology life cycle including operating model/strategy, discovery and requirements definition, solution architecture and design, development, testing and production release.
• 1 year of quantitative analysis using Agile methodologies or robotics tool‑specific methodologies.
• 1 year containerization and scaling models and integrating models with downstream systems.
• 2 years managing technical teams, including allocation of work, review of outputs and guidance.

Bring order and structure to structured and unstructured data and prepare analysed data in visual formats in a manner that is accessible to clients and other stakeholders to solve multiple and complex business problems utilizing cloud-scale advanced statistical techniques and Business Intelligence analyses. Lead big-data problem solving to collect, analyze, and present findings and solutions, leading junior team members, and working with a wide variety of clients to deliver technology consulting services. Serve as the go‑to resource for understanding clients’ problems through data gathering and analysis. Solve complex analytical problems in an effort to bring data to insights and enable the use of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at scale for clients. Lead delivery of unparalleled service in big data, business intelligence, and digital analytics built on a blend of custom‑developed methods related to customer analytics, data visualization, and optimization. Drive efforts to design, architect, and develop solutions to ingest, process and analyze large, disparate data sets to exceed business requirements, leveraging in‑house data platforms as needed and recommending and building new data platforms/solutions. Participate in business development and knowledge growth opportunities to strengthen aptitude to propose solutions that will better enable clients to navigate the complex world of modern data analytics.

Manage and motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in‑depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long‑term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post‑baccalaureate work experience.
• Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related field and 4 years of work experience.
• Must have 4 years of experience in quantitative modeling and analysis focusing on big‑data problem solving to collect, analyze, and present findings and solutions.
• Must have 4 years of hands‑on experience in python or SQL.
• Must have 3 years of experience with data manipulation tools and libraries SQL, Pandas, or Spark.
• Must have 3 years of experience in one or a combination of any of the following cloud platforms:
  • Azure
  • Amazon
  • Google
• Must have 4 years of experience in navigating database models to build data sets for analytics and model training and development.
• Must have 2 years of experience modelling and visualizing data in Power BI or similar platforms.
• Must have 1 years of experience in each of the following:
  • the delivery of intelligent automation services and the technology life cycle, including operating model/strategy, opportunity assessment, discovery and requirements definition, solution architecture and design, development, testing and production release.
  • quantitative analysis using Agile methodologies or robotics tool‑specific methodologies.
  • containerization and scaling models as well as integrating models and feedback from downstream consumption systems.
  • managing technical teams, including allocation of work products, tasks, and resources; review of technical outputs of the team; and provision of guidance and technical support to achieve the objectives.
• Requires travel up to 80%, of which 10% may be international, to serve client needs.
