Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a systems leader to own connectivity engineering initiatives across onboard and enterprise platforms. You will translate customer needs into system designs, align cross-functional teams, and drive release readiness with rigorous validation and quality standards.

You will lead complex technical investigations, define governance models, and push strategic connectivity initiatives such as cloud integration, next-gen hardware adoption, and data-center connectivity.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading system-level and connectivity engineering delivery.
  • Proven ability to translate requirements into designs and direction.
  • Strong track record in cross-functional alignment and governance.
  • Experience with telematics or connectivity platforms and next‑gen tech is a plus.

What You Will Do:
System Ownership & Technical Leadership

Own system-level definition and integration across onboard and enterprise connectivity systems. Translate business and customer requirements into system-level designs and technical direction.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Align multiple teams on clear execution expectations across scope, timeline, and ownership. Serve as the primary technical interface between onboard teams, connectivity platforms, and product stakeholders.

Delivery & Release Execution

Own delivery outcomes from requirements through validation and release readiness. Drive validation planning and execution for firmware and connectivity feature releases. Ensure readiness for release gates and adherence to quality standards.

Problem Solving & Technical Support Leadership

Lead complex technical issue investigations and root cause analysis for connectivity and telematics systems.

Strategic Initiatives & Innovation

Drive or support key connectivity initiatives such as:

  • Enterprise cloud UI (Vision Link) adoption in P&E
  • Data center connectivity solutions
  • Next-generation telematics hardware technology adoption
Operational Excellence & Governance

Establish and drive consistent workflows and execution frameworks across global teams. Define prioritization, escalation, and accountability models.

Scope & Impact

Acts as system-level owner for assigned connectivity capabilities. Accountable for delivery quality, release readiness, and system performance.

What You Will Have:
  • Demonstrated experience in control systems, embedded systems, telematics, or connectivity engineering
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical delivery efforts
  • Strong experience in requirements definition, system integration, and validation
  • Experience in connectivity system integration for Power & Energy, Machine or similar applications
  • Experience with telematics platforms , remote services, or system-level architecture
  • Familiarity with next-generation connectivity technologies and system evolution initiatives

Additional details
  • This position requires the candidate to work full-time at the Mossville, IL office.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
