Barnes & Noble College stores on campus seek a Campus Retail Associate to provide superior customer service and support store leaders in all facets of retail operations to ensure optimal performance.

This part-time role emphasizes flexible scheduling, employee discounts on textbooks and course materials, and development opportunities while building valuable, transferrable retail experience on campus.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Process sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and provide a friendly atmosphere for a positive visit.
• Support store operations including operating equipment and cash register with speed and accuracy.
• Keep the store organized by shelving, arranging, and cleaning products.
• Part-time schedules require availability year-round; shifts may vary to meet store needs.
• Perform routine housekeeping such as dusting, mopping, and trash removal.

Responsibilities

Expectations:

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
• Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
• Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
• Part-timepositions require availability to work on a weekly basis year round. Schedules may be set or vary to meet the needs of the store.
• Routine housekeeping including, for example, dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, trash removal.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting.
• Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Connecticut Pay Transparency Information (Only applicable in Connecticut stores):

Pay: Part-time Bookseller pay rate: $17.50/hr.
