Job summary

The Home for Little Wanderers, Waltham House, is seeking Per Diem Residential Counselors to support youth who have experienced trauma and emotional/behavioral challenges. Join a dedicated team applying trauma-informed care in a group home setting for up to 12 LGBTQ youths aged 14-18 in Waltham, MA.

You will help youth develop life, coping, and social skills, and participate in on-site and off-site activities while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more prior experience working with youth preferred.
• High school diploma or GED.
• A passion for making a positive impact on the lives of kids.

Responsibilities

• Passing the CORI/background check and having a valid ID.
• Being physically active for an 8-10 hour shift.
• Participating in verbal de-escalation and physical intervention with youth.
• Multi-tasking in a changing and fast-paced treatment environment.
• Receiving and implementing feedback in the moment and through a structured supervision process.
• Ability to work evenings, holidays, weekend shifts as required.

The Home for Little Wanderers, Waltham House is looking for Per Diem Residential Counselors to make a difference in the lives of youth who have experienced trauma and/or who have significant emotional and behavioral challenges. Join a dynamic team of professionals implementing our trauma informed care model.

The Home for Little Wanderers' Waltham House is a group home program designed to provide a safe and supportive living environment for up to 12 LGBTQ youth ages 14-18. The Home offers extensive training and support to all new staff and many opportunities for career and professional development.

How You Will Be Making a Difference

• Support youth in developing the skills they need to successfully transition home to families.
• Teach age-appropriate life skills, coping skills, and social skills through modeling, counseling, and other techniques.
• Participate in groups and activities designed to enhance youth growth and development.
• Participate in both on-site and off-site recreational/educational activities.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment.

The pay range listed represents the company’s good faith estimate of the salary or wage range for this position at the time of posting, as required under applicable law. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including a candidate’s relevant experience, education, skills, and internal equity relative to other employees in similar roles. Candidates with less directly related experience may be placed toward the lower end of the range, while those with extensive or specialized experience may be placed toward the higher end.
