Job summary

Seyfarth Shaw LLP is seeking a Conflicts Researcher to generate precise conflicts reports using Intapp Open and online sources. You will work with firm leaders and staff to support potential new business and ensure compliance with firm procedures.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, and effective written and verbal communication with attorneys and staff. Prior legal or professional services experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; prior conflicts experience considered
• Experience with relational databases such as Intapp Open/LegalKey/CompliGuard Analyze
• Previous online research experience preferred (e.g., Dun & Bradstreet)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel; ability to learn new software; PDF tools a plus

The Opportunity

As a Conflicts Researcher, you will utilize Intapp Open conflicts software and online research tools to generate accurate reports on the firm’s prior involvement with parties involved in potential new business. You should have familiarity with legal terminology used for common business structures. You must be highly attentive to detail and have the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and must possess effective communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of staff and attorneys utilizing tact and diplomacy.

The Day-To-Day

On any given day, you will be working with firm leadership, partners, and business colleagues on a variety of requests and projects. You will:

• Generate new business conflicts of interest reports according to department procedures, utilizing Intapp Open conflicts software and available online research tools.
• Have a working knowledge of all department standard operating procedures and understand conflicts request workflow.
• Understand basic conflicts of interest principles as taught by the National Conflicts Manager and Conflicts Attorneys.
• Demonstrate sound judgment in managing your assignments in relation to firm and department priorities.
• Ability to interpret and analyze information. Demonstrate ability to compile, review, filter, synthesize, and determine logical conclusions or recommendations based on data and information which is varied in content and format.
• Must be a self-starter; able to work with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment; and exercise independent judgment in performing all aspects of your assignments.
• Other responsibilities, as required.

You Have

• Bachelor’s degree, highly preferred, however if you have prior conflicts experience you may be considered. Prior work experience in a legal or professional service environment desired.
• Experience with relational databases, such as Intapp Open, LegalKey, or CompliGuard Analyze, desired
• Previous online research experience preferred, including Dun & Bradstreet.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to learn new software is required. Experience working with PDF software is a plus.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Location Specific Language

The salary range for this role is $57,000 to $65,000 annually, which is based on a 35 hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Chicago. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
