Job summary

Wilson Elser is seeking a Conflicts Analyst in New York for a role within the Conflicts Department. The analyst will handle conflict of interest reporting, corporate research, and the generation of conflicts reports in a fast-paced environment.

The Position

Conflicts Analysts play an integral role in a law firm’s Conflicts Department. The department is the central hub through which conflicts of interest checks are processed for new clients, new matters, and new hires. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for performing all duties associated with conflict of interest reporting, including corporate research and analysis when required, running data searches, generating conflicts reports, and identifying potential conflicts for further review. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented and thrives in a fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initial review and intake of new client forms, new matter forms, and change requests
  • Evaluate requests and perform corporate research if appropriate
  • Complete conflict searches and perform an initial review, analysis and interpretation of results, identifying potential conflicts for further review pursuant to the Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Communicate key information and process to attorneys and elevate complex issues
  • Perform initial review of waivers or engagement letters to facilitate conflicts clearance, as appropriate, and under the guidance of Conflicts Counsel
  • Assist the firm’s Office of General Counsel with specific projects relating to conflicts of interest issues
  • Monitor and process requests to the department mailbox as assigned and on an as needed basis
  • Execute various changes, corrections, and updates on existing client and matter information
  • Ensure all firm procedures are accurately followed before any new clients or matters are opened
Qualifications
  • Strong computer, research, analytical, and proofreading skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to solicit and communicate information effectively and professionally
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel in a professional manner
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Must have some legal, compliance or research experience
  • 1‑3 years experience working in a professional or legal office environment

Wilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally. A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full‑time and therefore qualifies for benefits including a 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Salary Range: $65,000 USD – $80,000 USD
