Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of conflicts analysis with new business or lateral reviews.
  • Experience with Intapp Open/Walls or NetDocs is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare conflict check reports in the firm’s conflicts database.
  • Analyze new business conflicts searches with attorneys to gather information.
  • Oversee conflicts review for lateral hires, summarizing content and resolving issues.
  • Research prospective clients using internal/external databases for conflicts.
  • Update data in conflicts and financial databases and ensure accuracy.
  • Interact with Conflicts Attorneys to discuss reports and resolutions.
  • Assist in training other team members and handle special projects.

O’Melveny has an immediate opening for a Conflicts Analyst to support our Conflicts (New Business and Lateral New Hire) and Engagement Management function. This position can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of any US OMM offices. This application is for our New York City office. The Conflicts Analyst will work closely with attorneys and members of the Conflicts and Engagement Management team on the identification, review, analysis, and resolution of ethical and business-related conflicts of interest. Successful candidates will thrive in a collaborative environment, have an acute attention to detail, and the ability to problem solve and communicate with attorneys and support staff with a high degree of professionalism.
The salary range in NY for this role is $85,000-$100,000 and represents the firm’s good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and finalize conflict check reports using the firm’s automated conflicts database to be sent to attorneys and other personnel
  • Analyze requests for New Business conflicts searches, and work with attorneys and assistants to obtain clear and precise information to facilitate the completion of conflict check requests and new business intake forms.
  • Oversee conflicts review for all lateral attorney and new hire candidates, including assisting candidates with completion of the conflicts questionnaire, providing oversight to Conflicts Researchers generating the lateral new hire report, analyzing the report and summarizing its content, working with Conflicts Attorneys and other attorneys sponsoring the lateral new hire candidate, and resolving potential conflicts with attorneys representing current clients.
  • Research prospective clients and other corporate entities using internal and external databases to provide attorneys with clear and concise summaries of required steps to address potential conflicts or high-profile issues under guidelines established by the Office of the General Counsel in cooperation with the Firm’s Conflicts Attorneys.
  • Update and input data into the conflicts and financial databases; using internal and external information resources to confirm the accuracy of the information
  • Interact regularly with Conflicts Attorneys to discuss conflicts reports and responses from attorneys that require additional review, and suggest resolutions.
  • Follow up on new business and lateral new hire conflict issues with team members, attorneys, and assistants when necessary to ensure the resolution of conflicts of interest issues in a timely manner and identify potential new issues for review.
  • Respond to department email inquiries with accuracy, confidence, and professionalism, in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the development and training of other team members.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A minimum of three years’ conflicts analysis with new business reviews or lateral new hire reviews at a law firm is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience with Intapp Open software, Intapp Walls, NetDocs, or other risk management application, is highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, an acute attention to detail, and the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with communicating with attorneys and support staff and new hire candidates, in order to obtain information relevant to conflicts clearance and provide excellent customer service.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing priorities and meet frequent deadlines.
  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours as needed, including weekend coverage.
