Qualifications

  • Integrate technical data, BOMs, engineering specifications, and network design information into lifecycle logistics documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance with standards.

  • Establish and manage baselines for hardware, software, and documentation configuration items.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities, including scheduling weekly CCB drawing reviews; assembling review packages and agendas; recording and tracking decisions.
  • Process engineering changes and documentation updates including reviewing ECPs, deviations, and waivers; coordinating redlines and updates.
  • Verify part numbers, CAGE codes, NSNs, nomenclature, and Next Higher Assemblies; maintain an ECP matrix and tracking tools.

Description

SAIC is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to support U.S. Navy programs in Crane, IN. The successful candidate will provide configuration control, status accounting, and data management for complex systems and associated technical documentation. This position requires close coordination with engineering, drafting, logistics, and program management to ensure all configuration items and technical data are accurately maintained across the system lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical data packages, and source documentation to develop accurate technical drawing packages.
  • Integrate technical data, BOMs, engineering specifications, and network design information into lifecycle logistics documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance with U.S. Marine Corps standards (e.g., GEA-006).
  • Implement and maintain configuration management processes in accordance with customer and SAIC standards.
  • Establish and manage baselines for hardware, software, and documentation configuration items.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities, including
    • Scheduling weekly CCB drawing reviews.
    • Assembling review packages and agendas.
    • Recording and tracking CCB decisions and actions.
  • Process engineering changes and documentation updates
    • Review and process Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), deviations, and waivers.
    • Coordinate redlines and updates between Engineering and Drafting.
    • Verify part numbers, CAGE codes, NSNs, nomenclature, and Next Higher Assemblies.
  • Maintain configuration documentation and data repositories
    • Upload approved drawings and documentation into systems such as CMPRO and iPDM.
    • Ensure all related modules, tables, and metadata (part lists, CAGE codes, Next Higher Assemblies) are updated.
    • Maintain an ECP matrix and other tracking tools for system configuration.
  • Support configuration status accounting
    • Prepare and update monthly Configuration Status Accounting Reports (CSAR).
    • Generate periodic and ad hoc reports to communicate configuration changes, open actions, and baseline status to stakeholders.
  • Integrate configuration management with logistics and inventory management
    • Ensure configuration records align with inventory and property records in APSR systems.
    • Support procurement planning and part availability checks using tools such as WebFLIS and Haystack.
  • Promote CM best practices and process improvements to enhance data integrity and traceability.
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, and configuration management personnel to ensure documentation reflects approved system configurations and engineering changes.
  • Review and verify all technical documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable program and government requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in configuration management, data management, or closely related engineering/logistics discipline, preferably supporting DoD programs.
  • Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated experience in configuration management for hardware and/or software systems, including
    • Baseline management
    • Change control
    • Configuration status accounting
    • Audits and verification
  • Experience using CM and technical data management tools such as
    • CMPRO, iPDM, or similar CMIS/PLM/DM systems.
  • Strong familiarity with
    • Engineering drawings and bills of material (BOMs).
    • Part numbering schemes, CAGE codes, NSNs, and related cataloging/identification standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for documentation, reporting, and analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and coordinate effectively with engineers, drafters, logisticians, and program managers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent actions and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Navy or other DoD programs in a logistics or engineering environment.
  • Familiarity with
    • DoD configuration management standards (e.g., MIL-HDBK-61, EIA-649) or similar guidance.
    • APSR/inventory systems and basic procurement or property accountability processes.
  • Prior experience in a CCB coordinator or CM lead role.
Clearance and Citizenship
  • Interim Secret clearance required to start; must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. SAIC will sponsor the clearance process.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
