WCL Group in Schenectady, NY is seeking an Engineer – OTR Config Mgmt to structure and manage New Unit requisitions, BOMs, and CM activities across PLM and ERP systems. The role supports ITO and CM teams to ensure accurate BOM definitions and configurations for steam turbine and generator products.

The position emphasizes collaboration with Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Project Engineering, with a 12-month contract and strong potential for extension or conversion to full-time, and a hybrid work

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Computer Science.
• Experience with BOM management and configuration management concepts.
• Familiarity with PLM and ERP tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain the Engineering BOM (EBOM) and Unit BOMs across project lifecycle.
• Manage MBOM migration to ERP systems.
• Support ITO team in PLM-based project scope transitions after Order Release.
• Coordinate handoffs of requisition scope in PLM to OTR CM team.
• Verify features and VCC logic in PLM; resolve discrepancies with ITO CM team.
• Support PBOM reviews for Steam Turbine and Generator products.
• Assist CtO efforts and BOM integrity monitoring.
• Support CM Change Management processes and cross-functional collaboration.

Virtual with cameras on, panel interview with the client manager and additional client team members.POSITION OVERVIEWThe Gas Turbine Configuration Management (CM) organization is responsible for transforming product requirements and engineering design intent into actionable product definition. Using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) systems, the team delivers on-time, quality product definition to supply chain functions globally. Gas Power Engineering (GPE) end-customers are also partners and consumers of CM output.The Order to Remittance (OTR) CM organization focuses on the creation and maintenance of the project structure and Bill of Materials (BOM) for New Unit Requisitions, from Order Release through the equipment's Commercial Operation Date (COD), in addition to supporting Conversion, Modification and Uprate (CMU) projects.The Engineer – OTR Config Mgmt, Project Structuring ST/GEN generates and manages New Unit requisitions' Flange to Flange (F2F) and Accessories project structures for Steam Turbine and Generator products. The role also covers management of ST/GEN CMU Bills of Materials (BOMs).RESPONSIBILITIES Create and maintain the Engineering BOM (EBOM) and Unit BOMs, along with the conversion and push of the Manufacturing BOM (MBOM) to various ERP systems throughout the project's lifecycle. Support the Inquiry to Order (ITO) team (Commercial and Application Engineering) in the successful OTR transition of project scope definition in the PLM tool, or equivalent, after the Order Release Meeting (ORM). Collaborate with Project Engineering on the timely handoff of the requisition's scope definition within the PLM tool, or equivalent, to the OTR CM team. Verify accurate generation of logical features per selected configuration feature options and Variant Configuration Central (VCC) logic within the PLM tool, or other established method, and take necessary actions to resolve discrepancies in collaboration with the ITO CM team. Support the Preliminary Bill of Materials (PBOM) review meeting for Steam Turbine and Generator products. Validate standard parts selected through GBOM rules and support Configure to Order (CtO) efforts to maximize the direct release percentage on requisition orders. Assist manufacturing and MSD sourcing teams in addressing concerns with BOM timeliness and disconnects; conduct regular BOM integrity monitoring and reporting. Execute CM's role and responsibilities in Change Management processes. Collaborate with other functions (such as Sourcing, Manufacturing, Project Engineering, Design Engineering, and other CMPD teams) toward continuous improvement and Lean activities. Ensure that CM activities follow the client's Gas Power procedures and processes, as well as contractual requirements.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Experience in process use and development with regard to product definition development, Bill of Material management, configuration management concepts, program/project scheduling, and field installation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Clear thinking, openness to new ideas, and demonstrated experience in the implementation of new tools and processes. Demonstrated dedication to the client's Code of Conduct and a high level of integrity. PLM (product lifecycle management) systems experience.
