Job Summary:

The Caterpillar Large Electric Power Solutions Division (LEPS) is seeking a Configuration Engineer to join their group located in Lafayette, In. As a Configuration Engineer, you will share the responsibility of creating, updating, and maintaining all LEPS pricelists. The position will provide an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to learn and develop a strong background of a broad product line, which includes 3500, C175, and 3600 Electric Power products in all regions of the world. You will work closely with our partners in the Large Power Systems Division as well as other organizations within Electric Power.

What you will do:

Working closely with design engineers responsible for new products, product improvements, and cost reduction activities.
Managing component compatibility.
Initiating, prioritizing, and managing the creating of new pricelists.
Initiating, prioritizing, and managing changes to existing pricelists.

What you will have:

Information Capture: Knowledge of the methods, channels and processes to obtain needed information; ability to identify, capture and document relevant business information in an auditable, organized, understandable and easily retrievable manner.

- Follows defined procedures to document all routine information.

Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency.

- Adjusts SOPs according to changes in organizational and industry procedures.
- Tracks deviations from and modifications to existing SOPs in business operations.
- Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations and policies.
- Assists in establishing a standard operating procedure based on workflow and environment review.
- Reviews the efficiency of standard operating procedures in terms of performance improvement.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

- Assists in problem resolution, drafting and writing specifications for engineering practices.
- Works with basic, routine components of the engineering discipline in manufacturing.
- Performs basic installation, maintenance and repairs for a specific engineering function.
- Follows relevant standards, policies and practices in engineering operations.
- Reports unusual engineering issues and considerations regarding manufacturing operations to senior staff.

Degree Requirement:

4-year Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field is required.
