Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks an experienced engineer to plan and coordinate project documentation, drawings, production specs, and schedules to meet contract requirements. You will review contract and design changes and coordinate modification records across engineering, quality, support, and manufacturing teams.

Bachelor's degree with 6 years' exempt experience (or Master's with 4 years) is required, plus NNPS or Apprenticeship credentials where applicable. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6 years of relevant exempt work experience or Master's with 4 years of relevant professional experience.
• NNS Apprentice School and NNPS graduates are preferred.
• Alternative combinations of 2-year program plus experience or 4 years of related non-exempt experience accepted.
• Military E-5 or higher preferred; strong manufacturing/shipbuilding background is valued.

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates preparation of project documentation, such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules, and contract modifications.
• Reviews contract requirements and determines documentation needed for each phase of the project.
• Analyzes proposed design changes for impact on product and system; coordinates modification records.
• Establishes change orders and coordinates with internal and subcontractor teams; reviews released data and facilitates changes with engineering, quality, and manufacturing.

Education

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of relevant exempt experience

Master’s Degree and 4 year of relevant professional experience

NNS Apprentice School graduate

Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate

Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience

Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience

High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience

High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience
