Colonial Group is seeking a vehicle inspector to assess overall condition for processing and sale of client vehicles both in the lane and online. You will verify IDs, update vehicle data, inspect equipment and mechanical components, document damages, and photograph vehicles as needed to complete reports.
Role requires basic vehicle knowledge, professional report writing, and comfort using computers/tablets; valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in any weather are required.
Perform vehicle inspections to assess overall condition in support of the processing and sale of client vehicle in the lane and online.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Verify vehicle identification.
Identify and update vehicle information, including Year, Make, Model, Trim Lines.
Inspect vehicle equipment, options, interior, tires, mechanical components.
Document and estimate vehicle damages.
Review and document odometer information.
Assess frame condition and document damages to unibody and/or frame.
Assess mechanical condition of vehicle, documenting issues found during the condition report process
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to write reports in a professional manner.
Basic knowledge of vehicles.
Ability to utilize standardized lists to assign costs for damage.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or GED required.
Post high school training in damage assessment is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Background in automotive repair cost estimating preferred.
SKILLS
Ability to learn job specific computer programs.
Able to digitally photograph vehicles and upload photos to computer.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be detail oriented.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.
Able to work with minimal supervision.
Able to prioritize duties.
Able to work outside in any weather conditions.
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb.
Must be able to follow through on tasks to completion.
Able to communicate well both in person and in writing.
Must be able to drive a manual and automatic transmission.
Must be able and willing to be underneath vehicles to do visual frame inspection.
