Summary
The Pump Operator must have a commercial driver's license (CDL) and is responsible for driving to and from pour locations and operating a concrete boom pump, keeping the truck and equipment clean and in good operating condition. This position requires the ability to operate concrete pumps of various boom lengths. The operator will work irregular hours, including weekends when necessary, and be willing to commute up to 250 miles a day. Schedules can change at any time; therefore, flexibility and the ability to work overtime are essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Move the pump safely to and from the job site, ensuring all safety measures are in place before, during, and after each project.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines and safety requirements.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure DOT compliance.
- Evaluate site conditions and coordinate with contractors and superintendents for proper parking and setup.
- Load and unload concrete pump attachments safely.
- Operate and set up the pump, then clean it after use.
- Assess concrete mix designs and environmental conditions affecting concrete.
- Pump concrete efficiently to meet quality standards and customer satisfaction.
- Perform routine maintenance, identify issues, and report problems promptly.
- Keep the truck and pump clean and ready for the next job.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately.
Requires 10 years of experience.
Knowledge
- Concrete pump operation, placement, and finishing.
- Large truck operations and mechanics.
- Construction site safety procedures.
Skills
- Safe operation of concrete pump trucks on public and private roads.
- Operate four-section booms.
- Troubleshoot on-site problems.
- Self-motivated with high energy.
- Perform tasks independently and efficiently.
- Team player willing to assist others.
- Good judgment and common sense.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of concrete boom pump experience.
- Adherence to safety rules and encouragement of others to do the same.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks (kneeling, stooping, climbing, etc.).
- Valid CDL and current medical card.
- Successful drug screening and motor vehicle review.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Willingness to commute up to 250 miles daily.
- Punctuality and consistent attendance.
