KTA-Tator, Inc. (KTA) is a 100% employee‑owned materials engineering firm, internationally recognized as a leading expert in corrosion protection and asset integrity. Five business units comprise a $40 million enterprise offering coatings, steel, concrete fabrication, and building envelope inspection services in nearly every market.
KTA is hiring certified ACI and PCI technicians to provide QA inspection of the fabrication of precast concrete and reinforced concrete pipe in the Chesapeake Bay area, Michigan/Northern Ohio, mid‑Atlantic and Maine. Applicants must be willing to travel and work irregular or extended hours, including night shift and/or weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- QA inspection of precast concrete and reinforced concrete pipe fabrication.
- Test fresh concrete for air content, slump, and temperature; prepare reports; communicate construction conditions.
- Inspect prestressed concrete, particularly for transportation and bridge projects.
Required Certifications
- ACI Certified Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I: ability to test fresh concrete and prepare reports.
- PCI Level II or III (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute): experience with prestressed concrete inspection on transportation and bridge projects.
Additional Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED – required.
- Integrity and ethical practices.
- Detail‑oriented, ensuring accurate paperwork.
- Customer‑oriented, maintaining relationships with clients and contractors.
- Good oral and written communication and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent work ethic, dependable, and punctual.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Basic computer skills: Microsoft Word and Excel, internet navigation and email correspondence.
Physical Requirements
- Good hearing, speaking, vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to travel and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, crouch, stand for extended periods and work in confined spaces and uneven terrain.
