Description

Western Specialty Contractors is currently looking for self-motivated, top notch individuals to help serve our customers as a Concrete Foreman at our Omaha, NE location. If you are a self-motivated individual with great work ethic and the personality to help with customer satisfaction, then we would love to meet you!

As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to set forms
  • Set the appropriate subbase/grade for the new concrete
  • Ability to read simple drawings
  • Run heavy equipment needed to remove existing concrete (i.e.: skid loader w/ breaker, air hammers, mini excavator)
  • Must be able to manage crew and lead others during pours
  • Proficient in finishing slab on grade concrete, parking garage slabs, sidewalks, curb, and gutter, etc.
  • Supervises workers assigned to area of responsibility to ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications and meets quality standards
  • Acts as the competent person on the job by identifying existing and predicable hazards which are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees and halting any operation or removes employees from environments that may be dangerous
  • May mix cement, using hoe or concrete mixing machine
  • Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • Rigging of mobile and stationery scaffolding on structures in accordance with corporate guidelines
  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and workpieces during installation
  • May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman's tools and equipment
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by craft worker
  • May remove rough or defective spots from concrete using grinder, hammer, and/or chisel. May patch holes
  • Supervises & coordinates the activities of assigned workers, establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedules, and communicates progress to superintendent
  • Ensures that workers know and understand the company's safety policies
  • Maintains liaison with customer"s representative and advises superintendent and/or project manager of potential problems
Requirements
  • Workers should be able to: Follow specific directions; perform a variety of duties which may often change; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure; evaluate information using measurable standards.
  • Identify existing and predictable hazards to work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees.

  • Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see (naturally or with correction)
  • Abilities to work at heights, at extreme temperatures, and to wear company\'s safety equipment are essential.
  • Experience in a trade or craft is required, preferably in concrete and masonry.
Benefits

Western offers a competitive wage. We provide medical, dental and vision insurance with the company paying over 80% of the premium. A $10,000 life insurance and $10,000 accidental death and dismemberment benefit is provided and is 100% company-paid. Generous 401k plan. Must work at a minimum of 30 hours per week to be eligible for benefits after 90 days of employment.

Compensation for this role is determined using a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, market benchmarks, and the cost of labor in the different geographic locations where we operate. In addition to base pay, this position may also be eligible for: beneficial ownership in the Company through Western\'s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). A comprehensive benefits package, which includes health, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off, maternity leave, and additional benefits designed to support employees and their families.

US Pay Range: $35 USD - $38 USD
