Job summary

Scull Construction Service, Inc. in Rapid City, SD is hiring a Concrete Finisher to form, place, and finish concrete on commercial projects across the northern plains. You will work with a team to deliver high-quality flatwork and structural concrete while upholding strict safety standards.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years of concrete experience, reliable transportation, and ability to travel out-of-town. We offer weekly pay, benefits, and an apprenticeship/development track.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of concrete experience
  • Pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random testing
  • Must have transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work
  • Must arrive on time to job site with PPE and necessary tools
  • Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices
  • Wear PPE as directed (hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests)
  • Willingness to learn and master new tasks
  • Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product
  • Identify and communicate any job site hazards
  • Safely operate equipment and tools only if trained
  • Keep all tools in good, clean condition
  • Demonstrate safety and housekeeping on all job sites
  • Display a positive attitude toward the company, coworkers, and customers
  • Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed
  • Willingness to travel out-of-town
  • Work overtime including some weekends
  • Maintain hygiene and dress appropriately for conditions
  • Ability to instruct and direct laborers effectively

Concrete Finisher Job Description

At Scull Construction, a concrete finisher is responsible for forming, placing, and finishing concrete. The position’s skill set is continuously increasing by working with an exceptional team that prides itself on doing some of the finest and most challenging projects in the northern plains region.



Salary

Pay: $24 - $29 per hour

Essential Functions


  • Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues

  • Carry forms, clean tools, tie rebar, and use a rebar bender

  • Set and strip forms, pour and finish flatwork

  • Set-up, pour, muck, screed, and finish interior and exterior to all tolerances and specifications with attention to detail to provide an acceptable uniform product

  • Operate equipment such as a gas saw, Bobcat, and forklift

  • Take direction and accomplish duties outlined by your supervisor and ask questions when you do not understand the task

  • Be dependable to your team: You work as a team and progress as a team

  • Assist with all tasks; even it is below your skill level

  • Minimum of 5 years of concrete experience

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random employee pool drug/alcohol testing

  • Must have personal transportation to and from job sites, including out-of-town work

  • Must arrive on time to job site fit for duty for required shift and have personal protective equipment (PPE) and necessary tools with you.

  • Attend all safety meetings and maintain safe job site practices following company policy

  • Wear and maintain PPE as directed by supervisor and safety team, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, and high visibility vests

  • Willingness to learn and master new tasks, duties, and responsibilities

  • Pay attention to job details to provide an acceptable uniform product

  • Identify and communicate any job site hazards

  • Safely and correctly operate all equipment and manual/power tools. Do not operate any equipment or tools that you have not been trained to use properly

  • Keep all tools in good, clean, and operating order

  • Demonstrate and promote safety and proper housekeeping on all job sites

  • Display a positive attitude towards the company, fellow employees, and customers

  • Be responsible for working unsupervised and complete work as directed

  • Willingness to travel out-of-town

  • Work overtime as required, including some weekends

  • Maintain acceptable personal hygiene

  • Dress appropriately for working conditions

Physical Requirements


  • Able to physically lift heavy materials (up to 75 pounds) frequently throughout the work shift

  • Ability to safely climb up and down ladders

  • Ability to work alone once instructions have been given

  • Able to complete a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following: Standing, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment and any other safety-related equipment

  • Able to work from various heights via ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and other safe work platforms over 10 feet

  • Able to work in extreme weather conditions and elements, indoor or outdoor, including heat, cold, rain, mud, dust, and snow, depending on the job location

  • Able to work a minimum of 8 hours a day, with overtime and off-hour shifts as required
